No Control

Location: Auvergne, France
Founded in 2013 by Vincent Marie

From curator Siôn Iorwerth:

"Join us in welcoming the wines and ciders of Domaine No Control. Vincent Marie farms roughly 5 hectares of vines in Volvic, a village in the Auvergne best known for its bottled mineral water. Having learned his trade working in Alsace, under the stewardship of Patrick Meyer and Bruno Schueller, he took these biodynamic farming practices back to the volcanic soils of the Auvergne, where he is now making uncompromisingly rich and mineral wines, alongside traditionally keeved, aromatic ciders - a nod to his Normandy roots.

As we continue to build the portfolio of these passionate growers, the warp and weft of the threads connecting the community together become more apparent. Vincent Marie is good friends with Raphaël Beysang and they continue to trade grapes with one another, each vintage.

Having tasted with Vincent Marie at Les Anonymes, it was then Emélié Hurtubise who insisted on putting us in touch.

We’ve imported one red wine and one cider on this inaugural shipment. The red cuvée ‘Sortir de l'Enfer’ is a 100% Gamay multi vintage blend of three of his regular cuvées: Fusion 2019, Rockaille Billy 2019, and Magma 2020, blended with some Gamay from Julien Merle in Beaujolais. The wine is vinified using Daniel Sage’s flottaison method of macerating whole bunches in pressed juice. The ‘Hell Cider’ is made with organic apples sourced from his home region of Normandy. It is an energetically wild, bottle-conditioned cider with lots of tannins, bubbles, and slight residual sweetness. All of Vincent Marie’s concoctions are made with zero additions, making them all the more nourishing and pleasurable to drink. "
